The world will never be the same. Google CEO Sundar Pichai warns humanity that AI has been unleashed and once the genie has been let out of the bottle, it can’t be put back in. We’ve reached a pivotal point in technology where we’ve created something beyond us. This is bigger than the internet, we now have access to a super computer that can outwork humans in many different facets. Writers will be affected, coders will be affected, entire educational systems will be shook up. Accessing the AI will put you on another level of existence. You’ve been warned!
“We need to adapt as a society for it,” Pichai told an interviewer for CNBC, adding that jobs that would be disrupted by AI would include “knowledge workers,” including writers, accountants, architects and, ironically, even software engineers.
According to the AI overlords these are the jobs we will see most affected early on:
- Data Entry Clerks
- Customer Service Representatives
- Accountants and Auditors
- Financial Analysts
- Administrative Assistants
- Insurance Underwriters
- Transportation Workers (such as drivers and dispatchers)
- Manufacturing Workers (such as assembly line workers and machine operators)
- Retail Salespersons
- Construction Workers
In 2019 Forbes magazine predicted AI would eliminate most paralegal and legal research positions within 10 years. It’s happening now. Judges have already used ChatGPT to help them render difficult court decisions. AI will be in charge of many critical decision making processes in the future as it shows no confirmation bias and has no emotional response to information.
When OpenAI released GPT3 and soon after GPT4 it’s affect on the world was unprecedented. Humanity leaped forward 100 years in research and development. One person operations were now able to do the work of 10. I know first hand the power of AI as I’ve been tapped into the network every day since inception. When GPT4 was available as a premium and later closed down due to demand you can bet your bottom dollar by foot was already in the door.
If you miss the AI train you’ll be run over like a sitting duck.
I think what we all expected was for Google to belittle OpenAI and say that it was hype.
That’s not what is happening here is it?
My suggestion: If you’re in any of the fields mentioned above take note and get acquainted with AI sooner rather than later. The earlier you learn how to use AI language models such as ChatGPT the better. If you can swing the premium and they make it available again, snag it. The premium GPT 4 version is the real deal where GPT 3.5 Turbo is more of a transitional service available to give the public an idea of where we are at now. Whatever you do, don’t disregard the words of Sundar Pichai above on AI. This technology is not going away. It is the future!
